I will confess that we've only given one task to our interns -- ship a product we can all be proud of by the end of the summer. I think the trick to it all is finding the right interns (or 20-somethings). That is, the ones who require little-to-no management.

With our two programmer interns, our management strategy has been, basically, to come up with a big list of tasks, then not bothering them for about a week. We do use trac to help keep things organized.

It seems to be working pretty well, as the list is generally empty by the time we drum up the next set of tasks for them to work on.

The one aspect of our company that we've failed to manage is our Campfire chat. See link:
