folders.live.com

Before our start here at Jackson Fish Market, we all worked together across the lake. And the team that Walter and I were on has gone on to work on some cool stuff. We’re clearly incapable of fairness in describing their new offering because frankly, the people on the team are rock stars, and great folks to boot. So since we’re biased we’ll just offer a short pointer to the embryonic folders.live.com. Half a gig of free personal and public storage on the net. It’s kind of like a virtual USB key. It’s simple, it’s obvious, it fills a need (where can I put this big file so it can be accessed on the net?) and they’ve assured me the URLs will get cleaner over time. They even have a beach ball to play with while your file uploads. The team is moving quickly and shipping early and often so this is just a baby step. But it’s a good baby step. I’m excited to see what comes next. Congrats to the Live Folders team!

UPDATE: Looks like they’ve paused taking new signups so they can monitor their growth carefully. Hopefully they’ll accept more folks soon. Maybe they can make a special exception for readers of this blog. :)
