Lego Corner Café

Lego Corner Cafe

I literally waited a day before pulling the trigger on getting it. Because it was a $130 “luxury” that we don’t need? No, because I felt like such a startup poser. In the end though, the awesome coolness of the Lego Corner Café won me over. Screw the stereotype… Lego is cool.

If you’ve ever been to Legoland (Southern California, Windsor, Denmark, etc.) then you’ll have noticed that the construction of the mini-cities in each park is of a different caliber of lego construction altogether relative to the models you can typically buy in the store. There is a scale, level of detail, and thoughtfulness around reliability that simply doesn’t exist in the typical Lego kit.

The Lego Corner Café looks like it came out of one of the sprawling Legoland city models, and the set is only available online. Additionally, it’s designed so that you can put together multiple sets and create even larger buildings with relative ease – basically each floor of the structure is almost a meta-lego block on its own fitting with other floors from the same kit.

I was going to wait to blog about this until I’d actually finished constructing it, but I’ve only gotten through the first floor given how busy things are around here. So who knows how long it will take to finish.

  • So how did it go? I just stumbled upon this at the Lego website, and it’s taking a lot in me to not click on the “Order Now” button…

  • It went great. I finally finished it a couple of months ago. Since then of course I had to buy Market Street (http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=10190). Haven’t started it yet. Hopefully soon. It goes right next to the cafe. ;)

  • This set is cool. I’ve got the other two in this set. Each were fun to build with the kids.

  • Check out this cool product- it is so wickedly awesome, but too expensive for me :( :( . Wish I could afford, it is astonishingly rare because it has never been released by lego. Here is the link if you want to see it….
